Sound healing has been around for centuries. Every early civilization in all corners of the Earth has had some type of music, vocal or instrumental, as something mystical, sacred, or metaphysical to connect with the collective consciousness. By using sound vibrations and frequencies with special instruments we can center ourselves and reconnect to the sound of oneness, all consciousness, Christ-consciousness, the Divine, a higher power, whatever you want to call it. In all religious backgrounds, sound is the essential component of creation. The Big Bang theory, for example. Many ancient traditions believed that the universe was formed by vibration, or sound, and ancient cultures have records of music having the power to heal. There is currently a working theory that we are all created from sound vibration. “Sound first emerged from the depths of an abyss, which changed into light, and little by little this light was transformed into matter. The human body takes on the vibrations of music by absorbing the rhythms, melodies, and harmonies produced and allowing these same elements to join with the body which pulses as an actual part of the music. What many people do not realize is that by being exposed to the vibrations of sound or music, the human body is physically impacted powerfully. Modern science is now proving that vibrations can be used to balance the physical body for healing and continued health.
Sound and meditation are often used together. Vocal vibrations, for example, are very soothing to the body. Just singing and humming can alleviate depression and anxiety. Chanting mantras or aums that are even different tones and vocal sounds for each chakra has been practiced for thousands of years in India. The idea of chakras, of course, comes from Indian yoga Upanishads, Hindu traditions, around 2700 years ago. It is the cornerstone of Hinduism and Ayurvedic medicine. The use the vibration in prayer and connecting to the divine have been used for thousands of years. People have had profound experiences from sound healing, some have even used it to recover from hardcore drug addiction.
The sound healing instruments I incorporate are mainly singing bowls and tuning forks. Tuning forks work both on and off of the body. With the use of weighted tuning forks on the body creates a subtle but profound effect. Placing them on certain acupuncture/acupressure points allows the hertz waves to travel through the body and bring overall homeostasis to the body without penetrating the skin. Biofield Tuning is a unique non-medical therapeutic method that uses sound waves produced by tuning forks in the biomagnetic field, or biofield, that surrounds the human body to induce deep targeted relaxation.
